Canada Day 2014

It’s July 1st and this country is 147 years old.

On July 1, 1867, Canada became a self-governing dominion of Great Britain and a federation of four provinces: Nova Scotia; New Brunswick; Ontario; and Quebec. The anniversary of this date was called Dominion Day until 1982. Since 1983, July 1 has been officially known as Canada Day.

It’s a good day to celebrate all that is glorious and free.

I reflect on the blessings of living in such a beautiful country, where people from around the globe form a multicultural matrix and tapestry, bringing richness and diversity.

There’s no place I would rather live . . . or sing about . . .or dress up for. 🙂

Our national anthem:

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land..
