Zits Comic

I really enjoy and connect with the Zits comics.

I read this comic every morning because the blond-haired character, Jeremy reminds me SO much of my son.  It’s like the writer had a camera set up in my home as my son was growing up.  Jeremy’s mood swings and particularly his monosyllabic answers to his parents’ well-meaning and mild-mannered questions just crack me up.

This comic has an estimated daily readership of 200 million people.

I appreciate the writer and artist’s insightful comment on being a teenager. When he’s not at school or with his friends, Jeremy is often embarrassed and/or lectured by his parents. For example:

Jeremy: Mom, will you take me shopping?

Connie: (with a tear) You don’t know how long I’ve waited to hear those words come out of your mouth!

Jeremy: To clarify – ‘Take me shopping’ means I shop, and you wait in the car.

Keeping it simple. Keeping it real. What an amazing depiction of this generation’s angst, relationships and priorities.

It takes great talent to make people laugh, without the use of sexual innuendoes or swear words — just great observations about the everyday life of a normal teen.

I’m so thankful for brilliant artists and writers who depict truth so brilliantly . . .

. . . and bring a smile to my face every morning.

Thank you, Jerry Scott and Jim Borgman for the daily laughs.

He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.     Job 8.21 NIV

  1. I love this comic strip as well and it brings a smile to my face every day. Reminds me of when I was raising my family many moons ago. 🙂 xo ‘Mrs. B.’

    • So, which one of your kids was Jeremy? 🙂

  2. I love that comic also so much of it reminded me of Becky as a teenager.
