Blogging – A Simple Celebration

July 2010 — I stopped teaching full time and started my journey as a writer.

It was recommended that I talk with someone who was writing about a similar topic of interest — so,  I got in touch with an author and we briefly talked on the phone. This was the gist of our conversation:

Do you have a website?

No.

Do you have a newsletter?

No.

Do you blog?

No.

Do you tweet?

No.

Do you have a Facebook account?

No.

Well, Diane. . . the chances of an unknown author publishing a book without any Internet presence these days is almost nil. Unless you’re writing about zombies, vampires or sex, there’s not much hope in you ever publishing.”

It was a discouraging moment for me — but it was just a moment.

Later that day, I walked into the kitchen and asked my husband, “Chris, what’s a blog?”

That’s how it all started.

Fast forward to late April, 2014.

Yesterday, I posted my 1200th blog.

I’m not bragging. I’m just marvelling out loud . . . and praising God. Somewhere in this journey, I stopped blogging to “get an Internet presence for my book” and started blogging because I wanted to intentionally look for Jesus in my days.

This quote from Brennan Manning really inspired me.

We encounter God in the ordinariness of life, not in the search for spiritual highs and extraordinary mystical experiences, but in our simple presence in life.

Funny times. Sad times. Pensive times. Joyous times. This is the ordinariness of day in/day out life and this is what I blog about.

Blog-Tree-Copy

Does my blog make a difference? It does to me . . . and I hope my stories connect with you.

Most importantly, I pray that my ordinary stories glorify our extraordinary God.

Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.  Revelation 4.11 ESV
