A Crocheted Reminder

On January 1st, I started crocheting a sunset/sky blanket.

We have a front row seat to the most beautiful sunsets year round, so my plan is to crochet one row in the blanket each day, depicting the colors of that day’s sunset – for the 365 days of 2013. I’ve been buying yarn on sale for the past four months and now there’s a cupboard full of potential. I’m ready!

Today is January 24th and there are 24 sunset colored rows in my blanket. January has displayed some rather gray and cloudy skies, with spurts of brightness here and there. I’ve remained faithful to crochet exactly what I see. This is going to be a really interesting looking blanket by the time 2013 draws to a close.

Danae and I decided that Tuesday’s row needed to be rainbow colors – a forever reminder of God’s mercies towards her. Danae picked the yarn and I crocheted the bright colors into the blanket. With each stitch, I quietly praised God that He had and continues to have His hand on Danae’s life. Sovereignty means that God, as the ruler of the Universe, has the right to do whatever he wants. Further, He is in complete control over everything that happens. I truly believe this.

We really do have so little control over our lives.

Danae is on her own journey with God – and Tuesday’s car accident was a small part of the big picture.

As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. 16 When the wind has passed over it, it is no more; And its place acknowledges it no longer. 17 But the lovingkindness of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, 18 To those who keep His covenant, And who remember His precepts to do them. 19 The LORD has established His throne in the heavens; And His sovereignty rules over all. (emphasis mine)   Psalm 103.15-19

  1. That’s going to be one interesting aghan! Read on Ravelry of someone who is doing something similar – but with temperature – chose a range of degrees and picked colors to go with them. Have fun!

  2. The blanket is looking really beautiful already!

    • Thanks, Dianne…

      • Amazing project Diane to be following and recording His sunset with your own handiwork.

  3. Praising God with you!

  4. I cannot tell you how much I love this idea!
