Inspire A Generation – The Olympic Slogan

The six of us grabbed some grub and headed into the TV room to watch the closing ceremonies for the Olympics.

It was a tight squeeze on the couch but well worth the irritating“elbows-rubbing-elbows” closeness while we chowed down on whole wheat, five cheese tortellini and salads and watched the magnificent celebrations in London, England.

I’ve got to say – I’m glad the Olympics are over – way too much TV time for me – but I loved every minute of it. My family chuckled at my Olympic addiction but there is no greater display of athletic ability or more spirited life stories told than during these three weeks of Olympic competition. The cost is phenomenal and to be honest, there are times that I question the billions of dollars spent to entertain us but when it’s all said and done, young and old are inspired by the performances and thrilled by all the pomp and circumstance.

At first, our grandson, Phoenie, wasn’t too motivated to watch the closing ceremonies but we made him sit down with us, explaining that this was a “once in a lifetime” experience. So, he crawled onto Papak’s lap and took it all in.  Phoenie made interesting comments about everything he saw but we all burst into laughter when John Lennon’s famous “Imagine” face was flashed on the big screen and Phoenie yelled with excitement, “It’s Harry Potter!”

Yup…the next generation has been inspired, for sure.
