Covenant-keeping Love

I was so moved when I watched this video yesterday – it’s nine wonderful minutes. Such love…such commitment…such fortitude.

Please view the video found here.

Marriage is mainly about displaying the covenant keeping love between Christ and His church.

If we set our face to make of marriage mainly what God designed it to be, no sorrow and no calamities can stand in our way. The beauty of the covenant keeping love between Christ and His church shines brightest when nothing but Christ can sustain it.         John Piper

Marriage is not easy.  When we choose to “have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer,in sickness and in health, until death do us part,” we choose a difficult road. We choose death to self. We choose sacrifice.

When I watch a video like this, I am humbled and deeply challenged. I want to love my husband with a selfless, kind and patient, trusting, hoping and persevering love…but it’s not natural.

Covenant keeping, joy filled love.Lord, it can only happen in You. Only You can sustain it.

Ephesians 4:2-3 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Philippians 2:2  complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.
