This is outside our hotel window on Yonge Street, between Sheppard and Finch.  It’s not romantic but it’s fascinating…so many things going on down there.  It’s difficult to concentrate on writing when there is so much activity to watch – the desk is right near the window! Chris has to stay here all week for training so I decided to pack up the laptop and head down to keep him company when he gets back from work.  A writer has a mobile life.

I don’t know why this is so captivating -I suppose its because it’s such a different world than then one that I live in…that and I have to admit that I wonder what happens when the guy sitting at the top of the crane has to go pee!  It’s a long way down!

I assume this is the beginning of yet another tall building and I’m watching the preparation for the foundation – an indispensably integral structure of any construction. A lot rests on how well it’s built for it’s the base that supports the weight of the entire building. It’s that structure that transfers the weight of the building onto the earth below and provides support for the intense weight above.

That’s the way it is with buildings and that’s the way it is with people.

You gotta’ have a good foundation.

If you have a good, deep, sure foundation, you will stand, no matter what comes against you. When the howling winds blow and the lightning strikes, ( and it certainly has in my life) you will stay firm, solid and balanced.

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.   1 Corinthians 3:11
