A Summer Day in October

It’s summer weather again and look who the waves brought in – my little pal, Isaiah!

(You can check out the “Isaiah stories”  in the Archive Section of the blog – December 4th, January 26th, February 23rd, March 30th, April 21st)

Isaiah and I have had a lot of good times together and you can imagine how marvelous it was to have an unexpected and extra day of heat, sunshine and water wading given to us. Minnow fishing, chillin’ out on the air mattress, playing in the sand, running up and down the dock and peeing in the bushes – what more could a little boy ask for? Isaiah didn’t seem to have any trouble with the water temperature but I had a major “headache in my ankles” when the two of us were playing Frisbee in the six inches of shore water.

My favourite comment from little Isaiah came when he went pee in the bushes and with great delight, turned to his mom and I and proudly exclaimed, ” I don’t need to flush, do I?”  Childhood is such a gift to behold, isn’t it? Precious moments of simplicity, humor and innocence.  In the midst of an earlier conversation over a “chick pea, leek and tofu soup” lunch with the adults, (sometimes my adventurous spirit leads to rather interesting culinary creations)  four-year-old Isaiah piped up with this profound statement –  “children just need to be children.”

Ain’t that the truth?  I’ll leave it at that.

  1. Loved the pictures of little Isaiah. Thanks for sharing your day!

  2. Thanks for the fantastic day Diane! So nice to spend the day with you and enjoy the sunshine.. and your weird soup concoction!! 🙂

  3. What an adventure for Isaiah !!
Yes, kids need to kids!!! And if they didn’t get a chance when they were young, the time is now!!!
