Teachable Spirits, Loving Hearts

This weekend, I am speaking at a retreat for Sunrise Pregnancy and Family Support Services.  Sunrise is committed to assisting and equipping pregnant women, women who in need of support following an abortion as well as supporting families in the area. The organization strengthens families through providing emotional care by trained volunteers and meeting practical needs. Their desire is to “provide hope and guidance for each new day.”

I am honored to have been given such an awesome opportunity to get to know these amazing young moms and I have been looking forward to this time for weeks. I knew that I would hear some inspiring stories and learn from these strong young women who have persevered through the most challenging of circumstances.

I have not been disappointed.  As I spoke for the first time tonight, I was overwhelmed with these women’s teachable spirits, penetrating questions and particularly, their authenticity. The life changing experience of motherhood naturally connects them to each other. They are intense and articulate. They have taken on so much in life.

…and they are tired. Really tired.

I need to get up early tomorrow morning because we are starting the day with a 7:30 a.m. kick boxing class.

It’s going to be a really good weekend. I hope to bless others but I know that I have already been blessed.
